AirVape X Review

I fit into a very specific category of medical marijuana patient. I enjoy consuming all of the plant in a variety of ways. I have hemp and cannabis topicals, edibles, tinctures, flowers, and gadgets from a wide variety of brands. While I understand the benefits of cooking and evaporating herbs to breathe in versus combusting them, I love a good blunt.

Here’s a 24k gold blunt I smoked from Shine.

My aversion to vape oils doesn’t extend to vaping herbs, but most vape pens simply don’t have a satisfying hit. Even dab pens sneak up on you, and many of them get gummy fast.

Still, I’m determined to traverse the entire stock of vape pens at Vapor.com to provide a full review of their performance. If you

AirVape X is a slick device that’s smaller than your smartphone. Still, it pulls a massive amount of air intake by the mouthpiece in its patented design that provides the hardest hit I’ve had from a handheld device.

Not only that, but it heats up pretty fast, is discrete, and comes with a ton of accessories. The downsides, of course, are that it’s not cheap at $180, and this performance destroys the battery. Let’s dive deeper into what makes the AirVape X so unique.

AirVape X Design and Accessories

As you can see, there’s a lot packed into the AirVape X box, including the device itself, a concentrate pad, spare screens, dab tool, tweezers, a pipe cleaner, micro-USB charging cable, and plastic case it calls the X Shell. On the accessories side, I do have a few complaints.

First off, I have dozens of “dab tools” collected over the years, and the majority are garbage. This one is too thick at the end to be of any use, and it’s simply too easy to lose. It’s clumsy and needs to be replaced in the next model to actually be a tool.

Also, the included plastic case, while appreciated, is cheap plastic, along with the mouthpiece. A lot more attention needs to be placed on using quartz, ceramic, and titanium, or at a bare minimum stainless steel and borosilicate glass. This is especially true with any vape pen over $100.

I would really love to see more legit healthstones in vape devices over these mesh wire screens, but that’s a talk for another day.

It’s great that is uses micro-USB, but replaceable batteries are another concern in these devices. $180 is a lot to spend on a device that’s going to die within a few years. With those complaints aside, the digital screen and three physical buttons are quite easy to use, and overall, this is a well-built vape pen.

The slim profile of the AirVapeX (even in the case) makes it easy to slip in your shirt, jacket, or pants pockets. It’s quick and easy to hit, so you can medicate while on the go with no worries.

AirVape X Usability and Functionality

Technical specs aside, I’m no biologist or chemist, but I can tell you that the AirVape X hits like a dream (for flower at least). It supports a wide range of fully-adjustable heats, so you can get the exact temperatures you want.

Loading herbs into the AirVape X can be a bit of a pain, especially with the magnetic top. The first time I tried, I didn’t think about how I was using my metal scoop, and the magnetic pull made me spill weed crumbs everywhere. I’m so glad I wasn’t loading it with concentrate using the clumsy dab tool.

Once I worked my way through it, I was shocked at how well it hit. The experience only lasted three hits at 390 F, but they were massive, and by the time I was done, the herb inside was perfectly toasted a light, yellowish brown. I went in for a second helping and got the burnt taste. The dark brown herb inside was still smokeable if you’re into refries. It resembled a roach.

I was infinitely less impressed with AirVape X as a wax pen, however. It fell in a long line of disappointing concentrate attachments to a great herbal pen. And after about an hour of fooling around with it, the device was dead, it was was time to recharge and move on.

The 1300 mAh battery does its job for a quick and heavy hit to refresh your day, but that’s pretty much the extent of it.

AirVape X Final Thoughts

The AirVape X is an impressive vape pent that’s slim, portable, and does a lot of things really well. Most important is the hit of the device, but that hit comes with a hefty price. Not only does it cost $180, but you’re sacrificing battery life and a few design flaws.

Its magnetic top is secure but makes it difficult to load. The battery also isn’t removable. If the AirVape releases higher-grade mouthpieces and installs a replaceable battery, call me. But otherwise, this is an impressive one-hit wonder I’m calling my Fetty Wap.
