10. Gloria Delgado-Pritchett “Modern Family”

Gloria Delgado grew up in a small, crime-ridden village in Columbia, so she took her sister’s opportunity to emigrate to the U.S. After divorcing her first husband, Gloria was raising her son Manny on her own until she met Jay, a wealthy older man. Doing what’s best for her son, Gloria married Jay and became a stay-at-home mom. She even has a second son Joe with Jay and is just as great a mom to him.

9. Morticia Addams “The Addams Family”

Aired: 1964-1966, ABC

Although always clad in black, Morticia Addams is the very loving matriarch of her macabre family. She keeps her calm under any situation, and is always willing to give her kids advice. She even often cares for members of her and husband Gomez’s extended families. There is nothing Morticia wouldn’t do to ensure Wednesday and Pugsley are their version of happy.

8. Louise Jefferson “The Jeffersons”

Louise “Weezy” Jefferson’s was once the neighbor of Archie and Edith Bunker. Then her husband George’s dry cleaning business took off, and they moved up and away from the Bunkers to Manhattan. Prior to that, the fruits of Louise’s motherhood is seen in her son Lionel, who is surprisingly patient and accepting of Archie’s constant racism, ignorance, and condescension. He even marries the daughter of an interracial couple, a first for American TV.

A teen mom and a single mom, Lorelai Gilmore left her old-money parents to raise her daughter in a freer environment. She worked her way up the chain while still managing to be her daughter’s best friend. She loves pop culture and is the cool mom everyone wishes they had (and some were lucky enough to actually have).

The Wilkersons are a dysfunctional family, but Lois does everything to keep her sons on the straight and narrow path. Lois is often stubborn and hot-headed and clearly makes the rules in the family, as Hal is as inept and immature as men come.

Christy didn’t have a great mom, and now that she’s a single parent, she’s determined not to follow in her footsteps. Both she and her mom are recovering drug and alcohol addicts, and she’s raising her daughter to be better. Of course, her daughter is following in her footsteps by being a teen mom and her son smokes weed at a young age, but, hey…nobody’s perfect.

3. Sheila Broflovski “South Park”

Cartman thinks Kyle’s mom is a big, fat bitch, but she’s only doing what’s best for her family. Sheila Broflovski is protective of her sons, even the adopted Canadian, and she’s infamous for starting an all-out war against Canada due to a profane movie warping the kids’ brains. She’s even named after creator Matt Stone’s own mother.

Kitty Foreman is a cheerful, friendly mom who dedicates her life to making people happy. She’s a nurse by profession and not only nurtures her husband Rad and kids Eric and Laurie, but also all of Eric’s friends. When Donna’s parents divorce, Kitty fills in the gap and befriends her. When Hyde’s mom abandons him, she takes him in. Kitty is always compromising and doing whatever possible to keep the peace at home.

Jessica Huang is a no-nonsense mom who pushes her family to always be the best. She constantly seeks ways for them to improve and makes lists and vision boards to determine each child’s future. Jessica is a strong matriarch that encourages Eddie, Emery, and Evan to recognize their Taiwanese heritage. While she doesn’t always agree with their Americanized leanings, she does give in quite often to their whims because at the end of the day, their happiness is all that matters.
