Social Media, Marijuana Prescriptions, and Drug Dealers

How do I stop low time drug dealers from selling drugs to my girlfriend?

This people that God knows where they came from are selling my girlfriend drugs, she’s got 2 kids and they all live in my house. I know shes on pain/anxiety pills and also that she’s buying on the side, I’ve read her text messages on her phone. I also know who is the main person that got her connected to all this people, my damn drug addict neighbor. Our relationship has turned into constant fighting, I know that the healthiest thing to do would be to ask her to leave but all this people can’t simply walk clean, they know she has kids and have absolutely no morals on selling whoever needs drugs, I have considered call my local drug task force but before all that I have confronted my neighbor and asked her to take care of the issue, tell them to stop contacting her or I will have them arrested. I realize that this could have consequences but also I care for her. What to do?
Where there’s a demand, there’s always someone willing to supply. These people are making money, and you can’t get mad at them for providing for a customer.

You’re putting yourself in a bad position by messing with people who are likely armed, outnumber you, and can gain access to your home through your gf to harm you.

Keep in mind that your girlfriend has a choice – she’s choosing to buy drugs when she knows you don’t like it. She’s choosing to buy from these people when she knows you don’t like them. She’s the problem.

This is clearly not the girl for you, and you clearly have different perspectives on life. All of these problems are because you’re choosing to stay with someone you don’t have to. If she weren’t in your life, they wouldn’t be. Is it hard? Yes. Does it suck? Sure. But you need to man up and walk away. You can’t help anyone that doesn’t want to be helped.

Every minute you spend dealing with that situation is a choice you’re making.

If you want to take it to the point where you turn in a bunch of guys who you already told you’re going to turn in, all I can do is refer you to the street code discussed in every rap song.

If you want to be the guy who’s known for taking that kind of moral stance, be prepared for the consequences. Maybe nothing happens, and maybe some crackhead breaks into your home one day and kills you for a couple pills.

Personally I only smoke weed, but I once dated a coke/pill dealer and have met my share of dealers of harder drugs, hustlers, pimps, etc. Some have general respect for society and some will act as though they have nothing to lose.

It sucks to say, but drugs & money = power. A dealer doesn’t even have to come at you themselves. They won’t risk the heat. Instead, they’ll offer an addict a free score for taking care of business for them so they stay out of trouble and can continue their business.

If I were you, I’d leave her, move out, and never look back. But I understand that’s easier said than done.

Just know the problem will never go away so you have to decide what kind of person you want to be. Do you want to be the guy who takes these people down, the guy who walks away and finds a better life, or the guy who sits there and lets this problem drain all his energy and distract him from succeeding in life?

There is no right or wrong answer – you just have to do what feels right for you.

Good luck.

Dear Brian,
I a have medical card. Can I buy medical marijuana and have it ship to me in Florida?

From Can I Get Medicinal Marijuana in Florida?

In the last several years, many states have implemented statutes authorizing the use of medicinal marijuana. Florida is not one of those states. As such, you cannot get medical marijuana in the state of Florida.

Obtaining Medical Marijuana

If you feel that you absolutely need medical marijuana, you have two general options: obtain medical marijuana illegally or establish a residence where medical marijuana is authorized. Before you choose the first option, you should understand all of the consequences associated with the illegal possession of marijuana, including medical marijuana. Similarly, before you uproot and relocate, you should review both the laws in states that authorize medical marijuana and overlapping federal statutes.

States that Authorize Medical Marijuana vs. Florida

In California, if you carry a Medical Marijuana Identification Card, you are not likely to be charged or even arrested for possessing marijuana. Florida is distinctly different. The Florida penal code does not provide exceptions for the possession of marijuana for medicinal purposes. Penalties for possession of medical marijuana are the same as those for possession of recreational marijuana. Depending on the quantity of marijuana possessed, you could be convicted of a misdemeanor or felony offense, be confined to the county jail or state prison, and receive a suspension of your driver’s license for up to two years.

If you decide relocating to a state that offers medical marijuana programs is the best option for you, be sure to review all of the requirements set out by those programs as they can vary per county or community. Depending on that state’s laws, a doctor might be limited in what he or she can prescribe medical marijuana for, and it may be the case that he or she won’t be able to authorize medical marijuana for your condition. The Florida doctor’s opinion can help, but your new doctor in the other state will have the final say.

Federal Laws and Medical Marijuana Use

It might be frustrating for some that Florida has not yet caught up with other states that have enacted medical marijuana reform. However, the issue will be moot as long as state and federal laws conflict. Even though you can possess medical marijuana in California pursuant to state medical marijuana laws, you are still considered in violation of federal statutes. Marijuana is still illegal and prosecuted following federal regulations. You could end up relocating to another state only to be convicted of possession of marijuana by federal prosecutors.

Getting Help

If obtaining medical marijuana is an avenue you are strongly considering, consult with a drug attorney or criminal defense attorney in Florida before you expose yourself to criminal liability. A drug attorney can provide you with the latest update in medical marijuana enforcement procedures and penalties. From there, you can make a decision on how, where, and if you should possess medical marijuana in Florida. You can aso find information about the programs other states have in place for medical marijuana from the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
