The Cannabis Cup is an expensive event, but I’ve yet to pay for a ticket. How I Snuck into the Cannabis Cup is a story of its own, and it’s where I learned How to Attend Trade Shows. It’s also where I started networking with the publication’s staff and got a chance to pitch a story to the mag.
As a fan of gonzo journalism, I can’t help but appreciate art that pays homage to gonzo’s father, Hunter S. Thompson. If only every idiot druggie with a blog didn’t think they, too, were following in this brilliant doctor’s footsteps. If you’ve never taken a spiritual journey through your mind, there are plenty of experimental drugs beyond cannabis.
High Times cover art was on display in a variety of Cannabis Cup galleries. Some covers are celebrated for the icons on the covers (Cheech & Chong, Snoop, Willie Nelson, Bob Marley, etc.). Others have beautiful buds, political messages, and more. Walking these halls, it’s hard not to be overcome by the storied history of High Times.

I didn’t get many good crowd pics, because I was too busy dabbing in the middle of most of them…this is the general idea of what the VIP recreation area looks like at the Cannabis Cup, one of few places in the world you can smoke weed in public.
This pic isn’t actually from the Cannabis Cup or Denver…it’s from the parking lot of a Mormon church in Mesa, AZ. I stopped to take the pic on our way home from a dispensary, as it sticks out that a medical dispensary can’t be located near a school, but a gun store can be across the street from an elementary and pre-school.
Some of the High Times Cannabis Cup swag I got, including a bag I will leave Anonymous for its poor design and construction…the rest of this stuff (and so much more) was put to good use.
