Best Apps and Services to Make Money With Your Car Want to monetize your vehicle? Try listing it on one of these marketplaces.

If you have a car, truck, van, or any type of vehicle, you should be making money with it.

According to recent statistics published by Forbes, the gig economy now includes approximately 57 million people, which accounts for one third of U.S. workers.

Vehicle-based services are more popular than ever, and there’s a wide range of ways to make money with your car. Here are the best ways to make money with your car moving into 2020.

And don’t go into it without insurance and some smart car technology to track, record, and document all your time spent working.

Advertise on Your Car

Advertising on your car involves a full, half, or panel advertisement on your car, truck, van, or SUV. All you have to do is drive around as a mobile billboard using one of these services.

Wrapify partners with major brands like Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Mars Wrigley, 24 Hour Fitness, and more. Earn as much as $452 per month wrapping your car with ads from these brands.

Carvertise pays drivers upwards of $400 per week for its advertisement campaigns. Brands include Buffalo Wild Wings, AAA, and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Rent Your Car

Renting your vehicle makes use of it during what would otherwise be downtime. The best part of rental services is you don’t have to spend your time driving like you do the rest of these apps. If you have an extra car you’re not using, this is a great way to monetize it.

Turo lets you rent your car out and earn anywhere from 65 to 85 percent of the trip price. Pricing is determined by your car’s market value, location, time of year, and other data, so the better your car, the more you’ll make. Vator estimates the average car owner listing on Turo earns $600 per month.

Getaround lets you setup hourly and daily rentals just like Turo. Pricing is cheaper, meaning you’ll earn less, but there’s also a lower barrier to entry if your car is in less-than-perfect condition.

Turn Your Car to a Taxi

If you love driving around town and meeting people, ridesharing may be for you. Earn approximately $20 an hour by shuttling people from point A to point B. If you live near a college or in a spread-out area, this is a great way to get out the house and make extra cash.

Lyft operates in approximately 300 U.S. cities, and it’s popular among the crowd who hate Uber and want to support the a company doing literally every single thing they hate about Uber. Glassdoor reports Lyft drivers make between $5 and $40 per hour.

Uber is the market leader in ridesharing, and the word “uber” is often used interchangeably with “rideshare” the way Xerox was used as fax when those technologies mattered. This is the starter app to become a driver, and you can either taxi people or deliver food (see next section). Glassdoor reports Uber drivers make between $3 and $41 per hour, with UberXL, UberSelect, and UberBLACK drivers making more per ride for less rides.

This startup partnered with Israeli ridesharing company Gett to provide rides in New York City. If you live in NYC, it pays better driver commissions than both Uber and Lyft.

Deliver Food and Packages

Fedex Ground

If you like getting out the house but prefer to minimize human contact (and avoid letting strangers in your car), there are apps for that too.

A van, truck, or SUV (I’ve even seen plenty of passenger cars) can make money delivering restaurant food, groceries, store-bought items, shipped packages, and more. With some courier services, you can even use a motorcycle, scooter, or bike.

Try one of these services to keep in control of your car and spend some alone time navigating your city.

Uber may be reviled by drivers taking passengers around, but Uber Eats drivers know it’s the easiest restaurant delivery app to drive for. Everything is taken care of on the customer’s end, so you just drive to the restaurant, pick up the food, and deliver it. Glassdoor reports UberEATS drivers make $5-16 per hour.

Grubhub partners with local restaurants for deliveries. The average Grubhub delivery driver earns $12 an hour, according to Glassdoor.

Doordash delivers for restaurants that don’t want to hire their own drivers. Glassdoor reports the average Doordash delivery driver makes $10 per hour.

Postmates delivers food and products from restaurants, cafes, retail stores, pharmacies, and more. Postmates couriers are also averaging $10 per hour, per Glassdoor reports.

Instacart isn’t just for Whole Foods anymore. It continues partnering with more grocery stores hoping to compete with Amazon and its Whole Foods acquisition. Instacart drivers make between $7 and $20, according to Ridester.

UPS, Fedex, USPS, and Amazon have competition from this delivery network of independent contractors. DHL couriers outearn any of the startup on-demand delivery services at $13.25-$22 per hour, as reported by Indeed.

Earn up to $60 for local deliveries and up to $650 for long-distance gigs. Any size vehicle can help small businesses compete with Amazon’s massive fleet.

Caviar is yet another restaurant delivery service trying to spread. Caviar drivers make more than DHL, earning $25 per hour, according to Indeed.

Delivering alcohol is better than driving drunks around. Earn $5 per delivery, plus $0.50 per item and tips from drunk people. Charity never felt so good.

Amazon Flex

Amazon pulls out all the stops to ensure faster delivery. Flex drivers make $18-25 per hour delivering Amazon Prime packages all over town.

And if you don’t have a car, here are 30 easy ways to make money online anyway. My main hustle is blogging, so you can try your hand at that too.
