In looking for Pocket Morty strategies online, I was disappointed to find most video game sites rushed out coverage. For those unaware, video game developers routinely send video game reviewers early access codes to games in which we’re often given everything unlocked in order to evaluate the game.
On a review level, it’s nice to have access to the full game to get a feel for it, but it’s also why most video game journalists completely ignore paywalls and other problems with freemium gaming. Your favorite video game site isn’t aware of paywalls, because they’re removed on the early-release versions they play.
I explain this because when looking up info on Pocket Mortys, I noticed a few lazy “journalists” recommend using Level Up Mega Seeds to level an Egg Morty to 20 in order to hatch The One True Morty.
That’s a great strategy if you want to spend $20 on in-game purchases for a free video game, but not everyone lives in the ivory towers of IGN and Gamespot. Some of us actually have to work for our money and can’t afford to buy our way through doing things “the easy way.”
So…for all of you that have to go through the same grind I did because you can’t afford to pay to skip it like those out-of-touch jackasses who have no real idea the grind you face, here’s a legitimate strategy to level Egg Morty from 5 to 20 in order to hatch The One True Morty without buying it…
1. The first Morty of every match will be your default Morty (unless he’s dazed, in which case it’ll be the second slot. After you daze your opponent’s first Morty in a duelist match, you’ll be given an opportunity to switch your Morty. Tap Switch.
2. Tag in your Egg Morty.
3. Since Egg Morty can’t attack, immediately tap Switch again, and tag him out. What’s good about this strategy is you get to see the icon to know whether you’re facing a Paper, Rock, or Scissor Morty. What’s bad is you lose one turn, however…
4. After defeating your opponent’s Morty, the Morty you have on the field will gain XP, and your Egg Morty will as well. If one of your other Mortys dies, the XP gain grows exponentially. It’s vital you immediately switch out Egg Morty before he takes a hit though, or he will be almost immediately dazed and not gain XP.
5. After a couple days worth of duels, you’ll easily be able to level your Egg Morty to 20, at which point he’ll hatch into The One True Morty and gain attacks.
And if you have a moment, please feel free to seek out the lazy video game “journalists” who half-assed their Pocket Morty coverage and suggest people buy their way through paywalls.
Tell those assholes Brian Penny and Hardcore Droid don’t skip the grind. Troll them for choosing to rush out half-assed information just so they can scream first. Pop the bubble of those smug bastards and make sure they know a real gamer doesn’t need to buy their way through completing a game.
Also, as an alternative, you can use whatever Mr. Meeseeks boxes you have on a Council of Ricks fight for huge XP gains.
